• Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) K-12 School Counseling Credential

Future school counselors must have knowledge of the history as well as current trends in school counseling that is often achieved through active participation in professional organizations. They must also have knowledge of the laws and ethics of counseling specific to children in California schools.

• Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) Authorization

• PPS Internship Credential

To be eligible, a student must complete 15 units of coursework that includes EDCO 215, 218, 232, 244, and 294 with a 3.0 GPA or higher and meet the Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) [pdf]. One houndred (100) hours of approved practium exprience (typically completed as 在推荐学生之前，还必须完成EDCO 218和EDCO 294的一部分 for a PPS Internship Credential. Completimg the Requirements for the PPS School Counseling Credential

Upon Admission

• Attend a Counselor Education Department New Student Orientation.
• Register in the program’s foundational courses via the one.菠菜网lol正规平台 portal.

Complete the Foundational Coursework / Requirements

• Submit verification that you have met (or plan to meet) the Basic Skills Requirement (BSR). Complete the Basic Skills Requirement Verification form [pdf] and email it to the 菠菜网lol正规平台 Credentials Office at Credentials@tb35018.net and provide documentation to the Graduate Fieldwork Coordinator prior to starting your fieldwork.

• Complete 100 hours of school counseling practicum experience before beginning fieldwork experience (EDCO 292: Supervised Experience in Counseling)

Complete the Advanced Coursework/Requirements

• Complete the eight Advanced Professional Development courses (24 units) plus nine units/600 hours (3 units = 200 hours) of Supervised Experience in Counseling. A minimum 在公立K-12学校必须完成至少200个小时的400个小时 at each of two K-12 school levels. These hours are typically completed across three semesters.
