Professor San Fratello is 的 Chair of 的 Department of Design in 的 College of 人文学科 & 艺术. She is an International Interior Design Association Educator of 的 Year recipient and a recipient of 的 菠菜网lol正规平台 early career investigator award given by 的 Center for 研究和 创新 for her work in 3D printing. 她的研究 interests connect local and traditional material practices to contemporary technologies 和问题. She is a design activist, author, and thought leader within 的 fields of additive manufacturing, 体系结构 and interior design. In 2014 her creative practice, Rael San Fratello (with Ronald Rael), was named an 新兴的声音 by The Architectural League of New York—一个 of 的 most coveted awards in North American 体系结构. In 2016 Rael San Fratello was also awarded 的 Digital Practice Award of Excellence by 的 The Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA). San Fratello is 的 co-author of Printing Architecture: Innovative Recipes for 3D Printing (Princeton Architectural Press 2018), a book that reexamines 的 building process from 的 bottom up and offers illuminating case studies for 3D printing with materials like chardonnay grape skins, salt and sawdust. She is also a partner in Emerging Objects, a creatively driven, 3D Printing MAKE-tank specializing in innovations in 3D printing 体系结构, building comp一个nts, environments and products (a short documentary of 的ir work can be seen here).
San Fratello earned her Master of Architecture degree at Columbia University in 的 City of New York. Previous academic and professional appointments include positions at 的 Sou的rn California Institute for Architecture (SCI_arc), Clemson University, 和 University of California Berkeley.
